  1. Icom states in the release, “* Firmware update for the IC-705 is around late in January, and for the IC-7300 and IC-9700 will be in near feature.”

  2. It’s out. New preset mode looks more useful than just FT8. Presets offer unique CI-V addresses. So think different presets for different software. One for software that is updated and uses native 705 address like HRD or Win4Icom and one for programs like WSJT-X which has to use similar rig CI-V address of 7300 or 9700.
Punch a preset and it changes many settings with a single button. You get 5 presets.

    1. I suspect the next iteration of the IC-7300 could have DV mode and possibly VHF/UHF as well because so many would love that on a 100W HF rig. DV mode requires a D-Star vocoder chip, so I’m not sure if it’s even something they can modify on the ‘7300 as-is. The IC-7100 has it, though!

      1. I have a 7100, 705 and 9700. I just like HF D-Star. But the 7100 is my truck radio. Be nice to have a 100w HF DV radio in the shack

  3. Icom IC-7300 firmware 1.40 is out now – published today 02/26/2021.
Download and release notes are publicly reachable by the Icom homepage.

  4. i would like to see 7300 get a Morse decode function, i cant see Icom changing 7300 radically like adding vhf /uhf etc and hope they don’t, buy a 9700 if you want those goodies, 7300 is great for what it is a (game changer)

    1. Yes, the FT8 profile is an example of what you can do with the saved settings, but the same settings should be pretty close for js8 since js8call is derived from wsjt-x code. Plus you get other profile slots to tweak/configure settings as you like. You could set profiles for different software, different modes (like CW, SSB, RTTY), or different use case (contest vs rag chew vs SWL). I just wish they provided the feature for my 7610 as well.
