It is not SDR that is important in radio today, it is DSP, been that way for long time. Now DSP is going with direct sampling, antenna connected to the DSP unit.
SDR simply means rig can be upgraded with new firmware.

In general, I am a bit underwhelmed by this offering from Yaesu. Seems to really miss on several items that IMHO were necessary in a new rig that is coming out now. The option of a lightweight mobile (upgraded 818 or competitor for 705 or KX-3) is needed from Yaesu. I think the 818 really was sort of a modest attempt and more is needed. I suppose that Yaesu may not be willing to take on Icom head to head with a 705 competitor but it is needed from someone.
Completamente deacuerdo toda la razón
Sounds like they built their version of an IC-7300 which has been out for over 6 years. Nice.
Looking forward to the launch of this new radio. From your description of the size, it may be closer to the FT991A which is a superb radio. Looks like this fall will be a watch and wait time for us. Thanks for taking the time for the video.
