Our friend Alan (W2AEW) has just posted a video showing the process of building, adjusting, and aligning the CFT1 5-band CW portable transceiver. If you’ve been thinking about building a CFT1 kit, this video will help guide you [update: see note from Alan below]:

Thank you for making this tutorial, Alan!
Curious if any kit builders have advice on a first kit build for a newbie?
I was going to try a QCX+, but a multi banded like this looks cool (same with the QMX).
Also, anyone built/used a Cricket?
I’m thinking of building that one as well.
Hi Jere
re newbe kit builder ?
The QMX is not recommended
The QCX+ is outstanding, all thruhole components, critical solder component pre installed, can be multi band building LPF (lowpass filter) es (band specific) external to main PCB.
TX power greater than 4 Watts
The instructions, menus, receiver and decoder are QUTSTANDING!!!
re Cricket
A very quick easy build
XTAL (no VFO) sngle band, LPF is printed circuit track
No keyer
TX power is QRPp apx one Watt
I was disappointed with RX sensitivity and selectivity

If more info on qrpLabs stuff?

Thanks for posting this Thomas. Just found out last night that I made a goof at the end of the video where I show how to set the output power adjustment. The video shows adjusting RV2, but it should be adjusted using RV1. Too band YouTube doesn’t let you change/alter videos… I put a note in the video description regarding the correction.
